What productions really need
A space often looks better in photos than it feels on the shoot day. What counts is the practical side:
- Daylight: large windows and high ceilings save on the lighting setup and give a soft, natural look.
- Power: enough outlets and capacity for lighting, equipment and the crew's catering.
- Setup space: room for rigging, equipment, wardrobe, make-up and a quiet retreat.
- Crew parking & loading: parking right on site and short distances for loading and unloading.
- Internet: fast Wi-Fi for tethering, data transfer and remote approvals.
- Flexible booking: half or full days, including realistic time for set-up and breakdown.
- Quiet & exclusivity: no other groups, no noise from next door — the space belongs to the production alone.
Shoot location or studio?
A classic studio is neutral and predictable, but characterless — every set has to be built. A location with its own signature flips that around: raw walls, steel and industrial aesthetics are the set without you building it. For image films, lookbooks, product and food shoots or social content, that delivers atmosphere instantly.

What a shoot day in the loft needs
At REST2RENT you shoot across 400 m² in the former margarine factory in Hamburg-Altona (Bahrenfeld): plenty of daylight, more than 100 parking spaces for the crew, the A7 one kilometre away, plus a Kitchen Area for food productions or crew catering. The space is exclusively yours on the shoot day, and because there is no curfew, even long shoot days or night shots are no problem.
We deliberately don't quote a flat rate, because a half-day shoot is calculated differently from a two-day production with build-up. Tell us the scope, duration and crew size — in your enquiry — and you'll get a clear, fair assessment.

Can the space be rented for half a day or just one shoot day?
Yes. Half and full days are possible; we factor in realistic time for set-up and breakdown. We clarify the exact scope based on your production.
Is there enough power and connections for lighting and equipment?
The space is designed for events with full technology — power and connections for lighting, sound and crew equipment are in place. We coordinate any special power requirements in advance.
What about set-up, breakdown and crew parking?
More than 100 parking spaces are right on site and loading distances are short. Set-up and breakdown can be planned into the booking.
