How a Kitchen Party differs from a cooking class
In a cooking class the group follows recipes and instructions, and the food is only ready at the end of the evening. At a Kitchen Party the cooking is already done: our kitchen prepares patties, noodles, pulled chicken and sauces in advance. At the stations, guests only put things together or finish them briefly – so nobody needs cooking experience and nobody is stuck at one task in an apron.
That is what keeps the evening relaxed: people move between the burger bar and the wok, get talking at the stations and still have something in their hands. The difference to live cooking: there, a chef cooks à la minute in front of the guests. We always charge that as a separate item, and it can be added to a Kitchen Party.
How a Kitchen Party works
Every Kitchen Party follows the same building blocks:
- Arrival: Aperitif and two finger food bites.
- Base line: Bread, two salads and dips.
- DIY stations: At least two from burger bar, wok & noodles, taco & bowl, tarte flambée and pasta bar – each with a vegetarian option.
- Dessert bar: Brownie or waffle with toppings to help yourself.
- Wind-down: Open end with no curfew; from five hours, a late snack on request.
How many stations do you need?
You choose the number of stations yourself – it does not depend on the number of guests. More stations mean more choice and shorter queues. As a rule of thumb, roughly one station per 40 to 60 guests works well: two stations up to 50 guests, three up to 90, four up to 120.
Hot tasks stay with the team: a member of station staff supervises the induction wok, the crew puts the tarte flambée in the oven, and open flames, oven and grill are operated by staff only. Supervised stations are charged separately as station staff.
Who the format suits
Kitchen Parties work for team events, onboarding rounds, client evenings and as a second company event alongside a Christmas or summer party. Because nobody has to cook, the format also suits mixed groups where not everyone wants a hands-on programme.
At REST2RENT, the Kitchen Party takes place in the former margarine factory in Hamburg-Altona (Bahrenfeld) – exclusively yours, with its own Kitchen Area, more than 100 parking spaces and no curfew. We take care of service, set-up and breakdown.
